Maori | Patupaiarehe and the Mountains

LI: To learn the geogrophy of Aotearoa

Mount Maunganui is a mountain in Tauranga. The Hunua and Waitakere ranges are mountains in Auckland. Patupaiarehe are faries that live on these mountains in Maori myths.

I learned about patupaiarehe and mountains by listening to two stories, The legend of Mauao and The Terehu Wars. I learned where the mountains are by looking on google maps. We created a document telling the definition of patupaiarehe.

Definition:
What is a patupaiarehe?
Patupaiarehe are small pale-like faries that only come out at night because of the heat. They are creatures that helped form Mauao by dragging it into its place. They have magic like no human beng and are small forest-dwellers. They usually can be nice, naughty, or very mean.
