LI: To practice flexibility
This week we had another 3 rotations for us to switch to practice different gymnastics skills in groups during the session. The different rotations were focusing on: Rolls/Jump strength, beam flexibility and our 3 supports and balance.
Rotation 1:
Forward roll - Aim: To do a forward roll on a box landing standing up.
Beam balance - Aim: To jump onto the beam (like a frog or rabbit) and walk sideways to the end.
Bunny hops - Aim: To bunny hop on the different sides of the beam.
Cartwheel - Aim: To do a cartwheel on the blue mat on the stage.
Rotation 2:
Backwards roll - Aim: Perform a backwards roll on a slope or on the floor.
Trampoline - Aim: Taking a running start, we had to run and do a straight jump onto the mat on that stage. Then doing a forward roll on the mat. Once done, do a dive roll in the air. (Running, jumping and in the air put your arms out in front of you like superman and roll when landing).
Combo - Aim: To do a cartwheel, backwards roll and straddle, candlestick and then handstand.
Rotation 3:
Parallel bars - Aim: Lift our legs off the ground and our feet touching our back-sides so that from our chest down is straight swinging.
Handstand - Aim: Do a handstand off the wall using a wooden support for our arms to hold.
Bars - Aim: To do front support on bars without our stomach touching the bars and swinging our legs and far back as we can without letting go or falling.
Front, Back, Side support - Aim: To do front, back & side support on a mat on the floor.
Reflection:
I enjoyed this weeks gymnastics lesson because we got to do a combo and it was fun.
