Maths | Place Value | Decimals

LI:to shift between place value using multiplication

This week we were learning Place value. Place value is shifting numbers up and down to bigger and smaller numbers, like decimals or single digits. We learnt place value by using an abacus, sticks and a whiteboard. We had to do something simultaneously (At the same time). Mr Wong had to count and we had to write down 1 on the whiteboard and count one stick, and then put one on the ones onto the abacus. We continued this until we reached 34.

Next we had to create a place value house/grid using a google spread sheet. There were 5 columns and I made 6 parts for division and multiplication. In the grid, we had to pick random numbers from 2-4 digits and multiply them by 10, 100 and 1000 and divide them by 10, 100 and 1000. I did advanced place value where you have to include decimals/decimal points.
