Inquiry Walls


LI: Create wall planning for inquiry to plan on making a 10cm tall wall (max) and a 5cm thick wall to defend 2 helicopters from a mini pencil catapult.

This week for Mr wongs inquiry we made plans on how to build 4 different types of walls. On this presentation I created 4 plans on how to make a pallisade,stone wall,castle wall and a rammed earth wall. The pallisade wall is a wall of sticks or wood. A stone wall is a wall with plain rocks, which is hard to make with no sand or anything to stick it together. The Castle wall is a wall of rocks and wet sand in between to hold the rocks together. And the Rammed earth wall is a big chunk of sand shaped in a wall.

I created the palisade wall out of toothpicks and I created the Castle wall with rocks and sand. Ellenora had helped me create these walls and once we tested the walls our Castle wall (Rocks and sand) stood  stronger than our pallisade.

Debate Speech

Asian Dragon Or Manticore? 

LI: Write a debate speech on which creature would win a fight between an Asian dragon or Manticore

Here is my Debate Speech about the Asian dragon winning the fight and Reasons why the Asian Dragon would.


 “ The Asian Dragon would win a fight with a Manticore because the Asian dragon has control over water-related powers and their abilities to control atmospheres.”

 “The Asian Dragon can shapeshift into any sea animal possible, The manticore is able to sting any animal with it’s poisonous Scorpion tail if the Manticore is able to see their target.”

 “The Asian Dragon is able to control the weather that includes water like Rain,Tsunami’s and Flash Floods. The Manticore is able to fly above the Tsunamis and floods but the Asian Dragon could make it rain, causing the manticores wing to get dissolved.”

 “An Asian Dragon is able to bring good and bad luck to the appropriate people or animals that deserve it. The Asian Dragon would bring Bad luck to the Manticore which would give the Manticore a hard time. The manticores 2 rows of teeth give a strong bite but needs a close distance to reach their victim.”

 “ The Asian Dragon would win the fight because of its water powers, giving the Asian Dragon a high chance of winning the fight, the Manticore would get half the Chance of winning for having no useful powers except for it’s strange mix of creatures.This is why i think Asian Dragons Would win a fight“

Water Safety


LI: Create a sequence of swimming style and complete it.

This week we made our own swimming style, using the swimming skills we learned all of term 3. I made 2 sequences with sculling and streamlines. Our Swimming Sequences needed to have 5 things that we learned. It could be any style, But when we did it we weren't aloud to touch the bottom of the pool.

We had to swim from the middle of the swim school lane all the way to the deep end (the other side) of the pool. The teacher gave us a demonstration for us to complete so we understood how our sequences should be like.

Teachers sequence:
1.Mushroom float
2.T-Shape
3.Streamline kick
4. Rotation onto back
5.Sculling

Fun week


Today LS1 had the fun week.We played 2 games called Invisible rugby and hand soccer.

Fun week with Ls1 was amazing even though we werent able to watch a movie or eat anything.

Cybersmart Commenting


LI: Post a quality comment on a blog post.

This week for cyber-smart we focused on making a quality comment on somebodies blog. I commented on Nicole's Cheng I Sao presentation blog post because she has posted photos,videos,questions and a summary in her presentation. She has improved her Print Design rule use.

Nicole has done an amazing job writing and inserting pictures and information about Cheng I Sao in her summary. I understood that Cheng I Sao was a pirate and had gotten married with Cheng. Cheng Died in war and Since Marrying Cheng, Cheng I Sao became chief of over 70,000 pirates and was the richest pirate ever.

This weeks cyber smart was about posting quality comments on peoples blog including some recommendations and what you like about the bog post.

Inquiry

This week I reflected on my inquiry and Created this Presentation about everything my group learned incuding the information about our technologies.

2 of my group members had been absent while creating this DLO so me and Ellenora had made a presentation about EVERYTHING. This presentation is called Fortification stages because it is about how our fortified structures (inquiry ) evolved in stages.

Duffy Visitor Michel Mulipola


LI: Post about our duffy assembly.

This week the whole school met a famous Gamer,Wrestler and comic designer. Michel Mulipola cam to our school and spoke about his inspirations and how he became who he is now. He was inspired by School journals and how he loved to draw and make art when he was a kid. He started comics and games 12 years ago.


Kiwi Can Perseverance

LI: Focus on perseverance This week I learned about teamwork during perseverance week. We played games that taught LS1 group A about perseverance. The games we played were Tag Chain and invisible tag.In tag chain there was a tagger and the tagger has to tag as much person as they can and if they tag somebody they have to link up holding hands and only the people on the outside are able to tag other people because we arent allowed to let go once the line gets too long. Invisible tag is where we're in 2 groups and the kiwi can leaders have to call out a number between the minimum and maximum of the people in each group. The number called is the amount of people that play each round. The 2 teams have to run to their side and spin around the pole once. The first person to get in the middle of the court or away from the pole has the ball. The other team has to tag the person with the ball and tag backs arent allowed.

Daily 6

LI: Practice our times tables 
Today I practised my 6,7 and 8 times tables from 1x-10x

I found them all easy and I realised they were a pattern. When I completed my 6x8 and then 7x8 I only have to add the 6x8 answer to 8. I will have my answer for 7x8.

I wrote in my maths book my equations and completed them from 6-8

Next week I am going to try and complete my 9 and 12 time tables.

Keyboarding



LI: To work on our keyboard typing

I used the dance mat typing app to teach me more about typing on my keyboard.
I learned about the letters P and Q
I completed it all and I learned how to place my fingers correctly on the keyboard.

Typical Day Maths


LI: To make a presentation using mini clocks to create a time line of how we start our day and end our night.

This week I worked on making my school time line. We had to create a presentation on our typical day. We needed to start our day when we get out of bed and end our presentation with when we go to bed.

We had to focus on the differences between am and pm in our slide presentation.

Emotive language


LI: To learn about emotive language

This week I learned about what Emotive Language is and what it means. It means to turn a regular sentence into a sentence that can make the reader feel a certain feeling when we read a sentence.

Emotive language means to make somebody feel an exciting emotion.

Bombard History



LI: Post another presentation on our technology.

We have learned about Bombards and 2 historical examples or Bombard cannons.
Bombards are cannons that were used in the 14 centuries.

 In my groups presentation we wrote about the bombard history and about how big/Large they are, what they fire and more information on BomBards.

Duffy Theatre

The Cloakroom Bully

At the Duffy theatre there were three people named Molany, Ashleigh and Duffy . Molany was getting picked on by Ashleigh because she's always late for class and Ashleigh doesn't think Molany is good enough for soccer. At school Molany tries to sneak into class so Mrs Godallot doesn't notice. Ashleigh alarms Mrs Godallot to show that Molany is late for class again.Malony Gets given Detention.

At soccer practice Ashleigh and Duffy teamed up to practice their kicking. Ashleigh starts mocking Molany as she walks past. While Duffy's in the bathroom reading the Halloween bully book Molany cries in the next stall. Duffy tries to ask who it is. Molany comes out of the stall and Duffy asks what happened to her. Molany tells Duffy that there is a cloakroom bully bullying her and tells him she has a lot of worries. Duffy gives her the Halloween bully book for her to read in bed. After Molany reads the book she starts getting rid of her worries. The next morning at school Molany does't have anymore worries anymore and this time she isn't late. Ashleigh comes into class and starts mocking Molany. Mrs Godallot gives Ashleigh detention.

The next day at school Duffy stands next to Molany. " Come Duffy lets go play soccer" Ashleigh Says. " Can I play? " Molany Asks kindly. " Leave that loser here " Ashleigh continues. " Stop! Im not scared of you anymore so leave me alone" Molany shouts. Ashleigh runs away. " You stood up to Ashleigh! Good Job Molany. That book really helped " Duffy said.  " It helped alot Duffy "Molany Said. After school the next morning Ashleigh finds the Halloween bully book. She reads it and relizes that there's a Halloween bully bullying Wyatt the Skeleton.  Ashleigh goes up to Malony and Apologises " Im sorry Molany I relized that I'm doing something mean to you and I wont do it again". " It's Okay Ashleigh, I forgive you" Molany Says.Duffy, Molany and Ashleigh play a game of soccorin the soccor final.

Thank you Duffy theatre for giving us this lesson and I hope you can teach us more in shows. We all Enjoyed your performance and have learned a valuable lesson through it.

Persuasive Writing

Kiwi Can


LI: To learn about perseverance.

 This week for Kiwi Can we learned about calming our frustrated moments and using perseverance to complete a task and gain success

.Ls1 Group A Learned about Solving frustration moments during 2 games that taught me how to not give up using perseverance.

 Today I solved my frustration with my team. While playing a hard game I got frustrated because I kept making the same mistake and I was feeling like giving up, But I didn't want to.

 Kiwi Can helped me learn about not giving up by persevering and to calm myself down when Im frustrated.

In the Beginning Presentation


LI: To Identify the morals of myths/legends/fairytales.

This week I wrote a presentation on the story in the beginning. I have added a summary, Lessons the story teaches and a video. I have learned a lot during this reading must do and I think that is is a good way of learning myths/legends/fairytales.


The short summary I wrote is about the book that I read about how light was created and how Rangi and papa met. The video I inserted into my DLO is about a different story of Rangi and Papa. It's about their children and how humans were created.

 The morals and lessons of this story are how darkness stop good things from happening and sometimes this does not happen often but darkness causes good things at certain times. In the beginning, darkness was all that was there. Humans did not exist at that time nor did light.

 Until particles swirled it created light. That is a short clue of what my story was about.


The beginning story I read was from a school journal 2012 level 3 reader.

Stations

LI: To learn about the perimeter and the are measuring shapes. This week I learned about how to measure and multiply the perimeter and the area of a shape with different amounts of squares.

This week for maths we did 5 stations of measuring and multiplying. Each station had a different amount of squares to make the smallest perimeter out of. Each station we did the amount of squares got bigger and we had to measure the smallest perimeter.

Bow and Arrow History


LI: To post a blog post about a new technology of either bows and arrows or castle structures.

This week My group learned about bows and arrows history. We learned that it was more than 60,000 years ago, and Africans were the first country to invent bows and arrows. In this blog post We put in information about the mongol empire. The mongol empire had taken over 20 or more countries on only horseback and with bows and arrows.

When the mongol empire existed the USA/America hadn't existed nor been around.This presentation I had made was about the bow and arrow history around the 6-18 century.
