Swimming is helpful for survival and in swimming lessons with James today, we did 4 different swimming tactics for survival. They were:
- Streamline
- Streamline and roll for breath
- Kicking on back
- Breast stroke & survival stroke
Streamline
To do a swimming streamline, you need to put your hands together and put your arms up above your head. Try not to kick off to start. Kick your legs with your face down in the water and keep your arms straight forward while you kick.
Streamline and roll for breath
To do a streamline breath roll, you have to do a streamline, but after 6 kicks or 3 arm strokes you need to roll on your side and take a breath. We had to rotate our whole body to the side and not sway our head in the water.
Kick on back
We needed to float on our back and kick to the end. This is used for emergencies or people who struggle to use arms.
Breast stroke & Survival stroke
Lay on your back, and fold your legs to your chest, and push them out in a circled rotating form. Then scull your arms.
