Salt and Pepper | Hotel Room

LI: blog about where you would build your hotel and what you would use to build it.

I would build my hotel in the Coromandel, and I would use quartes to build it. I made a google draw to showcase one of the rooms in my hotel. Click here to see the room.

Pancakes and Maple Syrup? | SLJ

LI: Blog about our favorite food, the name of our Favourite food, and How to make it.

Favorite food: French Toast & Bacon

Method:
  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 220. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Place tomatoes on the lined tray. Bake for 15 minutes or until soft.
  • Step 2
    Lightly whisk eggs in a bowl. Add milk and sugar, and stir to combine. Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Dip bread in the egg mixture. Cook for 1-2 minutes each side or until golden. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  • Step 3
    Wipe the pan clean. Heat over medium-high heat. Add bacon and cook for 2-3 minutes each side or until golden. Divide toast among serving plates. Top with bacon and tomatoes. Serve with maple syrup.

WWF | Animal Saving

LI: Watch a clip, and explain the name of the animal they are trying to save, and what they're doing to help.

Clip #1: They are trying to save Saimaa Freshwater Seals, and they are making snowbanks FOR the seals.

Clip #2: They are trying to save the Tigers. They are donating to try and save tigers and they are training to protect the lives of tigers.

Day 3 | Summer Learning Journey

LI: list three good things and three bad things about working as a DOC ranger. Explain if I would want to be A DOC ranger.

Three good things about being a DOC ranger is traveling around NZ in the environment, DOC won as a supreme winner At the Randstad Awards and winner of Public sector in 2015-2016 and living on the Great Barrier Island exploring and discovering natural things.

Three Bad things: You could get attacked while trying to communicate with wildlife, Eye tests are needed, DOC thinks that NZ would be the BEST living space.

Would I like to work at DOC?: No, Why? Because I have other important things to be doing. I could help wildlife, without being a DOC ranger.

Day 3 | Summer Learning Journey

LI: Create a beast

This week for SLJ, we had to create our own beast. First we had to look at a story made by year 7 and 8's. Then we created our beast. Click here for the beast site.

My Beast Tale: The Amen has pitch-black fur and light green eyes that shine brighter than the sun. Their Teeth as sharp as titanium blades, and claws as deadly as the underworld. They have long rounge tounges and tall spikey ears. Their roars are like true nightmares. They run faster than the way the wind blows south, on the coldest night, in the coldest place. They devour anything bigger than the eiffel tower, and eat it whole in one. If you see one.. Say your Prayers. Amen.



Day 2 | Weird and Wonderful

LI: Blog about a maths problem about if you had a cactus. Equation: You have a cactus, and to keep it alive you need to give it 3ml of water a day. In a year, how many millilitres in total have you given it? 3x365 = 1095. Click here to see the document I made.

Biography | Winnie Mandela


LI: Create a slide and write the biography of an activist.

This week for Inquiry we had to create a presentation in groups and write about an activist. What is an Activist? An activist is a person that fights for something and protects what that thing may want or need. Somebody who protects the rights of parts of the world.

Our Research was about Winnie Mandela and How she protests Her country South Africa. We wrote about her private life details, what she protests for, and we created a 2 question quiz. Day 2 | Summer Learning Journey

LI: To find 3 Sports teams that have the word fern in their title and blog about which teams uniform is better to us and why.

This week for the summer learning journey day 2 activity 2, SLJ gave us the challenge to find 3 sports teams that have the word 'fern' in their name and put a photo of that teams uniform next to it. We have to blog about which team uniform we likes best and explain the reason why.

The teams I chose were Silver Ferns, Football Ferns and NZ black ferns. My favourite teams uniform was silver ferns because they had a range of black, and a white design. I made a document to show the teams I chose and the uniforms. Click here to see the document.

A Place to Stand | Summer Learning Journey Day 1



LI: To blog about 3 fun facts about NZ for a summer Learning Journey.

This week, LS1 Participated in the summer learning journey activity 1 for day 1. We needed to go onto a site called Fun facts about NZ and pick 3 Fun facts to blog about. I chose questions involving New Zealand's most active Volcano, It's population of trees/nature and some of the mos popular movies made. I made a document to keep track of my questions that I chose and I wrote the reasons why I chose them. Click here to see that slide.

Reading | Idioms


LI: To learn a whole bunch of idioms

This week, for reading we had to get into groups of three to find as many idioms as possible. These Idioms needed to be from a story on google on a book from the LS1 Library. On the Slide we had to apply the idiom on the top and the copy and pasted meaning on the bottom of the idiom. We needed to Link the meaning to the site we got it from. We had to take a screenshot of the story we got it from and highlight the idiom. Then we needed to write what the idiom meant in the story because there are different meanings to idioms.

We needed to make as much as we could so the winner could get a prize. If we found the idiom in one of the lists that were linked on the LS1 site then we were able to get two points for the idiom. If we couldn't find the same idiom on the lists then we got one point. We got 19 total idioms.

Kiwican | Final Week


LI: To talk about what we did through the term

This week we had to recap and talk about what we learnt and all our catchphrases that we did through the term. We also talked about our topic and theme. We told the Kiwi can leaders what we thought respect was because respect was part of what we were learning this term. At the start, we went through all our 3 catchphrases we learnt. Then we played 4 games.  This week was fun week so we recapped what we did through out the term.

Maori

LI: Learn the Maori place names, and if they're in the north or south island

This week for Maori, We had a list of Maori names and we had to write the English name and if it's in the north or south island in new Zealand. We had to use Maori dictionary or another site, that isn't google translate.

Maori

LI: To learn new Maori words

This week for Maori, We learnt new Maori words about places,feelings and more. We had options of Maori names at the bottom and we had to pick which one matched the English name. Examples: The great cloak of Tia, Big Mountain, Flowing River. Whanga means Harbour in Maori so any Maori word with whanga in it means a type of harbour. Roto means lake so any Maori word with roto in it means a type of English lake.

Many of these english names are places or famous landmarks and some of them are objects or feelings, ect.

Steampunk Art

LI: Draw a steampunk Design

This week, LS1 went upstairs to LS2 to learn about steampunk art designs. Steampunk is a picture involving mechanics, or a type of robotic design. Miss Anderson told us the story of Queen Victoria, and Britian. We were given a pencil and paper and we got to design our own steampunk design. I drew a clock, sneaking into the Mechanic Station.

I drew the background decorated with Christmas decorations, because it's almost Christmas. The background is a house with old wooden flooring. This creative design came out of my head when I thought about clocks and how steampunk is involved with the creating of mechanics and robotics.

Biography | Winnie Mandela

LI: Write a Biography of a Peaceful Activist

This week for Inquiry, We needed to choose a peaceful activist to write a biography on a slideshow. The person we chose was Winnie Mandela, and we chose this person because we learnt about Nelson Mandela so we were interested in learning about her.

This was a group/partner activity so we had to work together. My Groups were Liane and Alice. Alice and Liane wrote notes for our Teacher to read and I worked on the slide.

Our Notes Contain information about Winnie Mandela, what she protests for and what she has done to be an activist . On our Slide, We wrote about her private life and what she has done to be an activist. It also has an interactive question that they needed to answer about Winnie Mandela.

Maths


LI: Create a poster to explain multiplication using 3 diffetent questions, of 3 different languages

This week for Maths, we needed to think of 3 different question, on either division, multiplication, subtraction or addition (Optional) and do the equations on 10's, 100's and 1000's. I did multiplication for this week and I chose the languages, Filipino because I am half filipino, English and Italian because I am interested in those languages.

Reading | Find, Draw, Animate, Act


LI: To learn a whole bunch of new words.

This week for Reading, we had to complete a slideshow where we have to learn new words using Find, Draw, Animation Act. In this slide we find out new words. On the Find, Slide we needed to find an image that relates to the word we are learning about. We needed to complete this activity in groups of 5 or under to learn to communicate during this activity.

On the Draw Slide, We have to draw a picture to resemble the word we are doing. We also had to put, if it was an adjective,verb, adverb noun or other.

On Animate, We had a choice to choose to record videos or make animations and insert the link of the animation that represents the word we chose for each animation.

For the Act Slide, We needed to record videos about the words that we were learning about and we added a text box at the bottom of each video to explain what each video was trying to explain about the word.


Writing | Perfect Verb Tenses

LI: To identify verb tenses

This week we had to choose 20 different verbs that we haven't used and use them for our perfect tenses. perfect tenses are when we use verb words in a proper sentence. Example: I will have been throwing the pencil up and down until the buzzer goes off. In this sentence, the verb is Throwing.

Perfect Tense means doing an action, and stopping at a certain time or being interrupted. Me, Fau and Miiana worked on a slide to show the definition, and 20 verbs used for perfect tenses.

Cybersmart | BlogPost Searching


LI: Blog about the wanted and unwanted things in a blogpost.

This week we had to create a document on google draw, and choose our best blogpost to use to search if we have the wanted and unwanted things in a blogpost.

We had to layout our screenshot of our best blogposts blurb and highlight the parts of our blogpost in the color we used to represent each part, learning intention ect.

I put an explanation of what I was doing on my DLO. In the bottom right corner, is the explanation.
