Swimming | Kiwi Sport | Water Safety | YMCA
LI: To learn about water safety.
The year fives from LS1 swam at the YMCA lagoon pool to learn about water safety. In James's group, we did Freestyle, Back stroke & Endurance swimming as a rerun through.
Freestyle
We had to kick in the water and rotate our arms in circles and once we did 3 arm circles then we had to tilt on or side to breathe. We had to make it to the end and back of the lane.
Back Stroke
Like Freestyle, we have to kick on our backs and do arm circles. Our hands have to come up out of the water with our thumbs facing up, and rotate it so that our thumbs wouldn't be the first thing to hit the water when we did arm circles. We needed to keep our fingers together and our arms straight.
Endurance Swimming
We were allowed to do any type of swimming method. First we had to do 16 meters of swimming and then we had to do a full lane of any type of swimming without stopping or touching the floor.
