After we finished writing the bottom text boxes, we went onto writing about what was inside trenches and the health that the soldiers had in trenches. We added an extra text box to write about sandbags.

Sand Bags are used as a protective shield to develop an advantage in war, so that the soldiers below were safe. Sandbags were filled with mud and dirt so that the gunshots didn't do much damage to the trench and men.

No Man's Land is the area between the trenches in war and nobody would have survived on the land because of the gunshots and the opposing trench soldiers in war.

Kiwi Sport

LI: Learn the new 2 defence actions in boxing to develop an action that will protect you.

This week for Boxing, we needed to work with a partner to complete the defensive actions that Pax taught us in this session. Partner one needed guidelines and gloves, and partner two needed to handle a noodle. A cone was set in the middle and partner one and two had to face each other.

First we played a game where we had to snatch a cone before our partner did. In the 1st round, we sat close to the cone and needed to snatch it when Pax said go. We had to do the same thing nd we had to crawl as fast as possible. Then we had to make sure our bottoms stayed on the ground and we needed to face the wall and push off as fast as possible, then we got into the defence.

The first defence we did was when partner 1 had to get into rock position and partner 2 had to lower the noodle straight ahead for partner 1 to block. Partner 1 had to lift their hands up so that their face was covered and little space was left in the middle for partner 1 to peek out of.

The second Defence we learnt was called bridge. Partner 2 had to lower the noodle, a bit faster than before and partner 1 had to move backwards and stay in rock position. Partner 1 had to push off of their front foot and move their back leg, backwards more and they had to bring their front leg backwards.  Partner 2 also had to move forward when partner 1 (with the gloves) was moving backwards.

Kiwican

LI: Learn more about respecting not only our community but everything and everyone else you know.

This week for kiwican we learnt about respecting EVERYTHING in and out of our community because if you treat other people with kindness than other people will think/know that you deserve it back. Same with bullying. Other people will think you deserve it back. Today we played games called Tunnel ball as our energiser, and hand soccer.

For Tunnel ball, everybody stood in a circle and had to hit the ball between somebodies legs to get them out. Our legs had to be spread enough to touch the person next to our feet.We could only hit the ball with one hand and when people got out, they were able to watch and get the ball back into the circle. We also had to take steps into the circle to fit.

In hand soccer, we needed 2 opposing teams, and we had to be numbered off by Mr Matt, and if Mr Matt called a certain order of numbers, the people that were the numebrs, had to go into the arena. There were 4 cones and 2 on each side as the goals. The opposing team members had to use one hand and hit the ball into the other teams goal to get a win. The first team to get to 12 points, win.

KiwiSport | Boxing

LI: Learn the combos using Jab, Cross, Left & Right Hook and Left & Right Uppercut.

This week in boxing we learnt how to do combos.1 Partner used Boxing gloves and the other partner used 2 noodles. Partner 1 (Boxing Glove Partner) Had to punch the 2 Noodles in the Combo Order. The first combos we did were; Jab+Jab+Cross, Jab+Cross+Left Hook and Jab+Cross+Left & Right Hook!

Control Gloves:
Left & Right Hook- For the left you control your glove with firmness and we have to punch with your left hand to the opposite side noodle. Then you do the right side, you punch with your right hand and punch the opposide sided noodle. You need to hook it so it moves from your right hip to the noodle and it's the same with your left, Left hip to Front.

Jab & Cross- These punches are straight punches, Jab is the Left punch and the Cross is the left punch.

Uppercut- Hold the gloves to your cheeks and then pull one back downwards and force them upwards to do a hook. Same with the left, You pull back, Release, Punch!
Control Noodles:
Hooks- To hold the noodle you need a decent space for your partner to be able to punch between the noodles.

Jab and Cross- All you need to do is hold the noodles firm and still and hold your hands in the middle of the noodle.

Uppercuts- Hold the Noodles Horizontally so your partner could punch them from below.

Paikea is similar to 'The Whale Rider' Because of the girl and the whale. My poster includes Paikea the whale, The sun, and the Ocean/ Paikea's Territory. In Maori we Learnt about the story 'Clay Woman' that turned into a real woman by a 'Sneeze of Life'. In the story Clay Woman;

(Summary) Tane wandered his Island knowing something was missing, And as he opened his eyes to a sight never seen before, was a woman of clay. He sat and waited for something to happen, but nothing did. He walked up to the clay woman and let a great big sigh. Within' seconds the figure sprung to life and wandered into the forest. Tane was amazed at this sight and followed. The next day, Tane awoke to a wonderful voice, and saw Hineahuone beneath the trees with creatures all around. "Is this the woman?" Tane thought. We were taught how to create an interactive version using sparks as an example. Link to sparks: Sparks Show. We needed to put 2 Maori questions, 3 Vocabulary questions and 2 figurative language questions for my group. That makes 7 full questions to add.

Kiwisport | Boxing

LI: We learned how to uppercut and hook.

This week for Kiwisport, We learned how to move in rock position backwards, forwards and how to uppercut punch and hook. In boxing we were put into partners to practice the feet movement. One partner was the leader and they either could move forward or backward in rock position.

The other partner had to keep distance so that their partner wouldn't touch them. Then we practiced uppercurts and hooks on eachothers boxing gloves and once when one of the teachers stood in front of somebody they had to do an uppercut or hook on the glove they were holding.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn about respecting and following rules ins school and everywhere else.

This week for kiwi Can Ls1 group A learned about following rules and what rules we must follow. We also learned about what kind of rules we break and if those rules make us happy or if we agree with the rules made.

Today we played Centre ball and Bus stop. To play Bus Stop, there are groups and in those groups you have a piece of paper and a pen. You have the categories: Boy Name, Girl Name, Food,Animal and Colour on your piece of paper and an extra column to count your score. The caller has to call out a letter and you have to write down names, food, animals and a colour starting with that letter. For example if the letter is N, Boy name:Nick, Girl Name:Nicole, Food:Nectarine, Animal: Narwhal, Colour:Navy blue. If groups have the same word then they get 5 points and write it down in the total column. If groups have their own word they get ten points.

Inquiry | World War 1

LI: To explain information about the world war 1 vocabulary and timeline toward war.

This week for inquiry my partner and I worked on a DLO about the world war one reputations/beliefs. For our vocabulary slide we had to look up and learn about 7 different world war 1 groups and write down information and insert photos.

For our 'Marching toward war' Vocabulary we had 8 options and 8 boxes placed on the arrow next to the coloured boxes with information in them. We had to search on the given link and had to match the years that move onto world war 1.

Example:
2016: [Birthday of queen Elizabeth]

2017: [End of 2016]
